Herzliche Einladung zum Gastvortrag von Prof. Jerusha Neal: "The Haunted Pulpit: Getting Rid of Preaching’s Unholy Ghosts"
Veranstaltet in Kooperation mit #theoversity.
In 2020 Jerusha Neal published her new book “The Overshadowed Preacher.” The story of the Annunciation (Lk 1:26–38) is the starting point for a discovery of Mary as a role-model for preachers and for a Spirit-empowered embodied preaching. Professor Neal will start her lecture by deconstructing some destructive models of preaching and show examples of what pneumatological embodiment might mean in preaching.
Jerusha Neal, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Homiletics at Duke Divinity School. Her scholarly work examines the action of the Spirit on the performative borders of body and culture. Her research interests focus on postcolonial preaching, climate stewardship, preaching and gender, and a theology of the Spirit in sermon performance. Neal is an ordained American Baptist minister with broad ecumenical experience, most recently serving as a Global Ministries missionary to the Fiji Islands through the United Methodist Church.
